Bruski-Adopted! |
||||||||||||||
Hi, I'm Bruschi, named after the Patroits'
linebacker, which is appropriate because I am a big guy for my age.
I'm currently going through what my foster mom calls the Terrible
Twos, even though I am only 8 1/2 months old. I have to keep
testing boundaries and behaviors to see what I can get away with!
It's a learning process that stretches my brain...and the patience
of those around me. I love to play with people and other dogs. In
fact sometimes I get so excited that I practically turn myself
inside out!

|
Spot -Adopted! |
||||||||||||||
Spot, who was flown by a private pilot who
helped bring him to his current foster home, is a beautiful
11 year old, liver and white “young” man. Spot’s previous
family, who were transferring to the UK, felt our rescue
group would find him a good home rather than giving him to a
local shelter. Since he’s been in his foster home he’s been
getting along well with the other dogs and cats. The family
is helping him learn better habits with some housebreaking
issues. He has been recently neutered, which has made a
great difference in his marking. He’s been examined and
found to be in great shape for an older dog. |

|
Ester –Adopted! |
||||||||||||||
Ester is a very loving and gentle nine year
old sweetie. She has very good manners and a winning personality! She does
have numerous health issues that are chronicled on the Special Needs page.
Some of these issues are chronic and will have to be managed for Ester’s
entire life, while we are working on resolving other issues. Ester has been
amazingly patient throughout this process. |

|
Brianna –Adopted! |
||||||||||||||
Brianna is a 4 year old L/W spayed female who
was surrendered to us because her owners were moving to a
retirement community in Florida where they are only allowed
one dog and dogs had to be under 25 lbs. She is very sweet
and loves the water! She has some skin issues we're looking
into and needs to lose some weight.
Cats and kids would be more than fine in a house with Brianna. Her ideal home would be one where people are NOT at work all day. She has looked for trouble when left alone and should be crated (at least initially). She was used to going places in the car and is a great companion in that sense. She was allowed free range to go in an out in her old home, and loves to hang-out outside. She is being fostered on a small farm, and is able to be outside with her foster mom and enjoys the ‘lifestyle’. If she is going to be with another dog, she needs someone knowledgeable needs to be in charge from the get-go, to ensure things are safe. She would enjoy being the only dog as she is quite jealous. She really needs an animal savvy person who is going to spend a good deal of time with her and can set limits for her as her previous owners do not appear to have set limits for her. She will be a wonderful and devoted dog to that person. |

|
Thatcher-Adopted! |
||||||||||||||
My name is Thatcher. I am a five-year old liver and white female and adore my foster parents. My ideal home would be one with two parents and no young children and no other pets, well, maybe a fish would be okay. The reason is that I am somewhat insecure and unsure of myself in new situations. Once I know my way around, I do fine in all situations although it takes me a while to warm up to new people. I like to be out doors and although I am good on a leash, my foster parents let me run freely in their back yard. Don’t worry I never let Dad get out of my sight. I would like to be on the couch or the bed with my people but Mom and Dad don’t let me because once I get there, I don’t like to get down. I sleep on my own bed in their bedroom. One thing that freaks me out is being put in a cage or a small room. That really makes me ugly. But you don’t need to do that because I’m fine being left alone at home. I don’t empty trash cans or counter surf. Somebody said that I was a resource guarder but so far Mom and Dad say I have been very good. I would really like to find a forever home soon. Can someone out there offer me a place in their home and their hearts? I promise I’ll pay you back in love and devotion. (Sometimes my Dad calls me the “mad licker”). |

Sandy - adopted! |
||||||||||||||
Sandy is a 9 year old L/W spayed female who is being surrendered because the family no longer has time to give her the attention and exercise she needs. |
|
|
Skip – adopted! |
||||||||||||||
Skip is a sweet little 1 1/2 year old stray.
He spent 3 weeks in the animal shelter but that did not
change his loving, happy personality. A quick learner, Skip
is ready to go to his forever home to share his sunny
personality with a new family who will teach him the basics
and enjoy his excellent temperament. He's ready to play, but
knows when it's time to settle. He is a fun, funny, very
smart and very active guy who needs an active owner.
Do you have room in your
heart for a young guy who just needs a fresh start?

|
Francis – adopted! |
||||||||||||||
Francis came to us when his owner became too ill to care for him. He is a
beautiful young 13 year old boy. He loves to go on walks and enjoys the company
of other dogs and cats. His ear oblation surgery went very well and he will have
no more ear infections. Because of the surgery, he cannot hear
and will have to have someone work with him on hand commands.
Otherwise he is handsome, happy and healthy and ready to meet his forever
family!
Francis is a typical Springer who prefers to hang out with his
people as much as possible and does not require much effort at all.
He is a sweet boy who needs a warm bed, exercise, good food and
someone to love.

|
Connor– Adopted! |
||||||||||||||
Connor is a very active, energetic 12 year old who has been described as "not yet ready to retire". However, Conner is almost totally deaf and is in the process of learning some basic hand signals. He has also recently been diagnosed with Cuchings Disease. This results in Conner having a constant thirst for water and a voracious appetite, which lead to more bathroom breaks than normal. We are currently trying a new medication on Connor that will hopefully improve his symptoms, let Connor lead a more normal life and make him more adoptable. Connor is worth the effort. He is a very special guy! |
|
|
Oliver –Adopted! |
||||||||||||||
Oliver is a handsome 2.5 year old L/W male. He is quite calm and dignified in the house, happy to be curled up at your feet while you are in the kitchen or working on the computer. He is excellent with children and other dogs, but not so with cats. This is because Oliver loves to chase .... birds, bugs, shadows and just about anything in motion. But, he is quick to learn and his leash manners improve daily. He would be happy in home with or without other dogs, as long as there is someone there to give him lots of love. A fenced in yard and someone willing to continue with Oliver's obedience training would be a plus! |
|
|
Chase –Adopted! |
||||||||||||||
Chase is a lovely 3 y-o black and white male who found himself in a New Hampshire shelter when his family's circumstances changed and they could no longer keep him. During his 10 day stay at the shelter Chase became good friends with the staff and volunteers. But Chase wasn't a big fan of the shelter accommodations! He was notably happier when he got into a private home. Chase needs some basic training, but so far is proving to be a sweet boy who just needs someone to give him the love and attention (and training) he craves. He has experience in cat cohabitation, is being evaluated for his compatibility with girl-children, and is good if not a bit exuberant with other dogs. This guy would adore an active family to love. |

Conate–ADOPTED! |
||||||||||||||
Conate pronounced Ka-Na-Tay ( we call him Conty or Tay-Tay) is a four year old, male with loads of energy. He is a wonderful dog, very loving and really loves attention. He has been partially trained to hunt and is in need of reinforcement of basic obedience training, he does know his commands and listens quite well when not distracted, but more training and reinforcement will take care of that. He is excellent at tracking and flushing out cats so a cat free home atleast until he has learned not every thing that moves is fair game would be best. Conate is in need of a home that will take him for lots of walks and give him the attention he so badly deserves. He will make anyone an great companion and is an excellent family dog. |

|
Maggie–Adopted! |
||||||||||||||
1 year old Maggie is the sweetest little girl you will ever meet. Wants to be by your side all the time. Her tail never stops wagging. She loves everyone. She is good with other dogs [A little bossy]- not so good with cats. Will give them a good chase given the chance. They don't enjoy the game as much as she does. She is eager to please and a fast learner. She had an injury to her back leg that needs some time to heal. She will make someone a great family dog.

Maddie is an absolutely
beautiful liver/white gal with auburn highlights and light
brown eyes to melt your heart. At almost 4 years old, this
fun-loving gal is extremely energetic and full of spunk!
Maddie is looking for a forever home where she will have
lots of land to run freely. A farm or other large open land
to run and play would be the best environment for Maddie.
She loves to watch people work outside and is quite content
to just be at their side. She has a sweet spot for men but
is an absolute lover of all people. She is a total snuggle
bug!

Dan– ADOPTED
Name: Dan Sex: Male Location: Color: Liver & White
ID: Posted: 12/17/08 Dan was picked up by animal control officers in Westchester County, NY. He was underweight and had a raging ear infection. Apparently, Dan's former owners tried to fix his recurring ear infections by performing surgery. Unfortunately, the surgery resulted in scar tissue almost completely covering up the ear canal - making it nearly impossible to get the infections out or medicate them. Dan is an old timer (15 years old!!) with a young spirit still wanting to frolic in the snow in spite of what must be a very painful, chronic ear infection. He is a gentleman around the house and settled in after a very short two days. He is great with other dogs and cats. He now needs surgery to correct the past surgery and we would appreciate any support towards his costs. He is truly one worth saving.

Bailey– ADOPTED |
||||||||||||||
My name is Bailey. I am three and a half year old guy who is looking for people to love me forever. I am a handsome, neutered liver and white boy who just happens to really love people. Other male dogs and cats are another kettle of fish entirely, but once you get to know me, you will realize that those others are truly lesser individuals and I deserve to be the only pet in the household. I make that claim because I know how much love I have to give and believe me, my adopters won’t be able handle that of another pet once I move in. Sometimes I forget myself and in my joy to see my people I want to jump up and lick their faces. (I have never met a person yet that didn’t secretly love their face licked.)
One of my favorite activities is going for long walks because I am always interested in new scents. Sometimes I get excited and pull on the leash but a word from my foster dad and I remember my manners, although I miss a lot if interesting scents that way.
I weigh about 55 pounds, so I should probably not be in a home with children under five because sometimes I like to play bowling ball and they would be the pins. Seriously, I love to play ball and my former people said I would return the ball so that you could throw it again.
I love my foster parents but I really want a forever home. Please help me! |

Bailey– ADOPTED! |
||||||||||||||
Hi There, My name is Bailey and I would so love to be "Home for Christmas!" I am almost nine years old but my foster mom can hardly believe it--she says I look and act like a 5 year old!! The three things I love best in the whole wide world are running and running in the woods and fields (but when you call, I go right back to your side), playing ball (I even bring it back and put it where you want it) Mostly though I just love being with my person--she tells me how pretty and sweet I am and gives awesome belly rubs....Put here's the bad part--she has 4 dogs and two of them are really big and since I am scared of them I growl and bark to tell them to "back off!" I do fine with the two smaller dogs, but I really don't like the big ones, and they are starting to get mad at me.... I really AM such a nice girl---I love people, car rides, running and walking on leash--am friendly with people and all dogs I meet out in the world. My manners are just fine. I sit, wait, stay, shake hands, lie down and, boy oh boy, do i love to be called to your side (If I could, I would even do cartwheels to be your forever girl) Oh yes, I even like the 3 cats here, and they like me too. Hope you'll be interested in me! Love, Bailey |

Lindsey– Contact Shelter Directly |
|||||||||||||
Lindsey was surrendered by her owners because they no longer wanted her…..after raising her from a puppy. She is about 10 years old. Lindsey is a little timid if she does not know you, but just give her a short time to warm up and she’ll be your best friend! She is very affectionate and would do best in a quiet environment. Lindsey has quickly become a volunteer and staff favorite. She would get along with most dogs with the same personality and age. She is a delightful little girl that just wants to hang with you and sit close to you. She weighs about 30 pounds.

Frankie– ADOPTED! |

|
Misty– ADOPTED |
||||||||||||||
Despite having a major upset in my life, I am have adjusted to a
new lifestyle. I have lived with the same family since I was a
puppy, but a week ago my family had to give me up. Now I am in
an entirely different household. I went from being one of 2
dogs in a family with young children to my foster home where I
am the center of attention. I have learned that it's nice to
sleep in a bedroom and have 2 people ready to throw my ball
interminably, which is absolutely my MOST favorite thing in the
world. My foster parents say that I have no vices, whatever
that means, but I can be timid when I first meet people.
However, if you have a tennis ball, I'll become your friend
quickly. My foster mom thinks that I act more like a 5 year old
than a 10 year old, and I must be really special because the
other day I heard her tell someone that after having had 14
foster dogs I was one that she and my foster dad would like to
keep. But that would mean they couldn't foster any more.

like the candy bar! I'm a handsome 10 year old fieldy that
seeks the love and companionship of a forever home. Don't let my

around my family. I'm good with cats and older children (10+)

Maggie– ADOPTED |
||||||||||||||
Hello, My name is Maggie. I am 15 years old. My owners went into a nursing home and the family who took me in did not take good care of me. But I am doing very well in my new foster home they feed me good food so my weight is up and they take me on nice long walks. I can even keep up with the 3 yr old dog who also lives here. I like all people and get along well with other dogs. I also live with two cats. I like to chase them when I get a chance. My hearing is not what it used to be but I see pretty good. I do well in the crate. my foster Mom does not like it when I tip the trash or try to sneak snacks off the counter when no one is looking. I can't help myself sometimes. I would love a forever home. I have a lot of love left to give.

Lily– ADOPTED |
||||||||||||||
Lily is a very friendly 5 year old spayed female
who spent much of her young life as a breeding bitch. She was
surrendered after her owners added a young male with some
behavioral problems to the family. The two dogs proved
overwhelming, so Lily was surrendered. Lily will learn her
house-training while in foster care.

|
Jennie– ADOPTED |
||||||||||||||
Jennie will show you that 14 is the new 7 as she lives life to the fullest. She has that youthful look (many say, “look at the puppy”). Yet, Jennie has the maturity and wisdom of age. She stays near you: she knows where her food and love comes from. She also can be impish and playful as she grabs (not chews!) your shoe for a short game of cat and mouse. When you get your shoe back, there are no teeth marks. She has the soft mouth of a hunter. It’s all about the special exchange. Jennie is certainly sweet, but not to be underestimated. With true grit, she will take a tumble, get right back up, and keep on going. Jennie is the perfect companion. She is calm, content, athletic and playful. She will gladly take a walk with you. She does not pull on a leash. She really loves to be near, but free to jog thru the grass and stir up some birds (She is a hunter at heart). She is always within sight. She comes back wearing a smile to tell you what she found. Jennie will not pester you to play. But when you toss a ball or stick, she will retrieve with happiness. If you sit, she will not jump and demand. She will lie near, content to be with you. Gardening is also a love. Jennie will lie near you as you plant your bulbs, prune your bushes, and work in your garden. She will Spring at the chance to swim in a watering hole. She is quite the swimmer. Jennie is an all around wonderful companion. She needs to be spayed. |

Rebel is the 2nd half of a pair who needs your help! He was until recently living in foster care with a Springer Mix he loved dearly for over 10 years. His partner has recently passed away. Rebel is an 11 year old, male tri colored Beagle mix. They had both have spent most of their lives as outdoor dogs, but since coming into Foster Care have been housebroken and enjoying the good life indoors. Rebel still slips now and then but is doing better. He is wonderful with cats, children and other adults. As a senior, he sleeps a lot but also enjoy walks and the outside when you go out with him. He has been enjoying their foster Mom's fenced in area but he is very good on a leash and minds well when you call him to you. He would be a great family dog, and has had some training. |

Lucky– Adopted! |
|||||||||||||
Lucky is a
6 ½ year old neutered male English Springer Spaniel who is in
perfect health and condition. He is liver and white colored and
has recently been groomed and shaved. He was surrendered after
living with his owners since he was 9 weeks old due to
allergies. One of their children developed allergies to dogs.
He lived with a 5 y.o., 3 y.o. and 6 month old and was great
with kids; he has never lived with cats. He is up to date on
all vaccines and heart worm negative. We are looking for people
who are familiar with hunting breeds and are active and
outdoorsy – preferable with a fenced yard. His adoption fee is
$250 and that includes all of his vaccines, a heartworm test,
de-worming, de-flea and also he comes with food too.

|
Woody– Adopted! |
||||||||||||||
This is Woody! He was picked up as a stray by animal control in CT and wasn’t claimed. Woody is a Springer mix, between 2-5 years old. He had surgery 7/15—he was neutered, had a broken tooth pulled and a sore toe fixed. Since his surgery, he is clearly feeling so much better. Woody has a full tail with white at the tip which is always up waving happily as if to say, “Life is great.” And he has the best smile! He gets along well with the 2 dogs in his foster home. NOT good with cats—he is a serious cat chaser. A home with a fence where he can be safely enclosed would be ideal. He has an amazing 3-4 ft vertical Springer leap so kids in the house should be teenagers. Woody is a really good boy! He is waiting patiently for his forever home. If you are interested, please put in an application for this happy guy!
